Elphick’s is now selling a selection of Charley Haprer’s books and games produced by Ammo. First up is this brilliant set of flash cards with two floor puzzles on the reverse. The set includes 26 colourful cards for each letter of the alphabet, flip them over and you have a further two vibrant floor puzzles to keep the little ones occupied. Elphick’s is now stocking the work of Brighton based illustrator and print maker Sally Elford. Her work is inspired by her passion for mid-century design as well as her love for wildlife and the great British countryside. As an illustrator she has worked for some very prestigious clients but now divides her time between this and print making after embarking on a screen printing course. All prints are produced by Sally in small editions, at very affordable prices. For more information on edition numbers, sizes and prices visit Elphick’s online shop by clicking here.

The new batch of David Weidman’s prints have arrived, here’s Flamingos II one of my favourites. Just organising the framing so hopefully they will be available to view next weekend. I will have some unframed prints in the browser this weekend so get down to 160 Columbia Road asap to avoid disappointment  as these beauties sell out real quick.

The work of Russell Loughlan had its debut here at Elphick’s last weekend following a tip off from a couple of friends who’d seen his work at ‘Tales From a Park Bench’ in Camden. He’s already acquiring a fan club so he’s definitely one to watch. Each piece is a combination of illustration, found imagery, postcards and stamps with references to iconic lyrics from pop culture. Housed in recycled frames they are £145 each

Ella Doran is hosting an exhibition of artist designed place mats in aid of the charity Shelter. You will find this little fella (below) sitting happily on a set of six as well as some other amazing contributions from some very prestigious artists and designers. The deadline is the 3rd October so click here quick before bidding ends. The exhibition at Ella’s Cheshire Street shop is well worth a visit too.

The ever popular James Brown has a new print in stock and I really rather like it. Inspired by a Czech matchbox from 1963 it’s a homage to the now demolished Eastway Cycle Circuit in East London. It’s been a while since I posted something on the blog and like waiting for a bus nothing comes for ages, then suddenly there’s three! I’m just about to bombard you with all things new here at Elphick’s. First up is Helen Musselwhite, she’s been busy with commercial projects designing book jackets, a mug for ‘Melt’ (the concession in Selfridges) and greetings cards to name but a few so we’ve been low on stock. Anyway I am glad to announce her paper sculptures are back on the walls at 160 Columbia Road so if you’re a fan grab yours quick because her owls literally fly out (pardon the pun)! Lenna (David’s daughter) has been sending me some snaps of David Weidman’s serigraphs so that I can get an idea of the  different colour ways available. I have just placed a new order, the last batch sold out really quickly and as before these are all original screen prints from the 60’s and 70’s. Elphick’s is very pleased to announce the arrival of these fantastic limited edition screen prints by Kate Gibb. Commercially she is probably best known for the sleeve artwork she created for The ‘Chemical Brothers’ but her career has also seen her collaborating with ‘The Magic Numbers’, ‘Simian’, ‘Sonny J’ and fashion brands ‘Dries Van Noten’, ‘Levis’ and ‘Adidas’ to name but a few.

Her love of colour, pattern and the happy accidents that occur in the printing process are what makes her work so inspirational and individual. 

Having admired her work for some time it’s great to have her on board. These prints are a ‘must see’ and are already going down a storm here at Elphick’s.

I’ve just finished this commission for a private client and I thought I’d share it with you. Photographs have been taken at Kew Garden and the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, these have then been lovingly cut out and reassembled to create my own hybrid plants. At some point this will be published as a poster, I will let you know just as soon as it’s available.
