City Prints

June 14, 2012

Ingela P Arrhenius ‘London’ £18

Ingela P Arrhenius ‘Paris’ £18

Ingela P Arrhenius ‘New York’ £18

City prints are proving to be very popular here at Elphick’s. We have been selling sets of London, Paris and New york by Blanca Gomez like hot cakes. Continuing with the same theme, we shall be stocking this set by the Swedish illustrator Ingela P Arrhenius. All measure 50cm x 70cm, so they will fit into ready made frames and they are a very affordable £18 each. I have to say my favourite is London. The order is placed, so I will let you know just as soon as they arrive.

James Brown ‘The Wick’ £50. Available here.

In his own words…

“Hackney Wick was referred to in a 1976 episode of Dr Who as “A mudpatch in the middle of nowhere.” Thirty six years later and the whole world is coming to town!

Well, they will be next-door at least, and like a snooty neighbour they seem to want to shield us from view.

Without contravening any Olympic regulations by putting the word ‘LONDON’ next to ’2012′ I have created a print which celebrates the ‘unsightly industrial area’ that has more going for it than any tourist or sports fan will ever get to know about”.

Paumes ‘London Ateliers’

February 25, 2009

Me, my work and studio/shop have been featured in Paumes ’London Ateliers’, a Japanese guide book to female artists studios in London. It’s great, especially if you like snooping into other peoples work spaces. I’ve really enjoyed looking at the fantastic work that some of my contemporaries are producing and you could do the same.

I was looking after Martha’s dog Pat for the day so she is a star now too!

Snowoman

February 4, 2009

We woke up to a Winter Wonderland on Monday morning, London was covered in a gleaming white blanket of snow. No school for Martha meant a day off work for me and what better way to spend the day than to make a Snowoman. There were lots of other families getting creative with the white stuff in Haggerston park and the bear in the second picture was one of our favourites. The tennis courts looked pretty good too.

Mondrian Investment Partners

May 22, 2008

I was commissioned by Mondrian in 2006/07 to produce four artworks for their office reception in Gresham Street, London.

Mondrian are an investment company with offices in London and Philadelphia.

The project involved photographing historical and modernist architecture in both cities.

In London, their offices are housed in a building designed by the architect Sir Norman Foster and in Philadelphia the architect IM Pei.

I loved Philadelphia as a city and it was interesting that architecturally it was extremely similar to The Big Smoke.

Images 1 and 2 are of London and 3 and 4 Philadelphia.

They measure approximately 1m x 1m.
