‘Optical Owls’ is a new drawing by Sharon Elphick for an exhibition to be held at the Mill Co. Project in London. ‘Collectionistas’ is an exhibition curated by Kavel Rafferty and will showcase artworks by several artists who are inspired by collecting. I have a fascination with birds, in particular owls and I have amounted quite a number of ceramics based on our fine feathered friends. This drawing shows some of my favourites. The drawing will be recreated as a Risograph in an edition of 30 and will be on display from November 26th. I’ll post more information soon.

October 1, 2009It’s been a while since I posted something on the blog and like waiting for a bus nothing comes for ages, then suddenly there’s three! I’m just about to bombard you with all things new here at Elphick’s. First up is Helen Musselwhite, she’s been busy with commercial projects designing book jackets, a mug for ‘Melt’ (the concession in Selfridges) and greetings cards to name but a few so we’ve been low on stock. Anyway I am glad to announce her paper sculptures are back on the walls at 160 Columbia Road so if you’re a fan grab yours quick because her owls literally fly out (pardon the pun)! Click here to buy online or swing by Elphick’s, where there is a larger range.

May 22, 2008I have a fascination with birds, it seems to be a constant running theme in my gallery/shop and in my collection of vintage ceramics. This is a drawing that I originally did for a friends birthday card, people liked it so much I decided to produce it as a print. It’s printed on archival ‘Davinci’ watercolour paper with archival inks. Image size 30cm x 30 cm, Edition of 20. £110 unframed.
