Love Love Love Kate Gibb

September 3, 2009

Elphick’s is very pleased to announce the arrival of these fantastic limited edition screen prints by Kate Gibb. Commercially she is probably best known for the sleeve artwork she created for The ‘Chemical Brothers’ but her career has also seen her collaborating with ‘The Magic Numbers’, ‘Simian’, ‘Sonny J’ and fashion brands ‘Dries Van Noten’, ‘Levis’ and ‘Adidas’ to name but a few.

Her love of colour, pattern and the happy accidents that occur in the printing process are what makes her work so inspirational and individual.

Having admired her work for some time it’s great to have her on board. These prints are a ‘must see’ and are already going down a storm here at Elphick’s.

‘Love’ is available in these two colour ways, in very limited quantities, at an extremely affordable £130 unframed, £200 framed. Print measures 50cm x 70cm.

You can buy Kate’s prints online here and have them delivered straight to your door.

I’ve just finished this commission for a private client and I thought I’d share it with you. Photographs have been taken at Kew Garden and the RHS Hampton Court Flower Show, these have then been lovingly cut out and reassembled to create my own hybrid plants. At some point this will be published as a poster, I will let you know just as soon as it’s available.

Dummy Cat

April 7, 2009

I was recently introduced to the work of David Weidman through my good friend Polly Banks. Weidman, who is based in Los Angeles was a prominent artist in the advertising and animation studios in the 50’s and 60’s. His works were produced as limited edition silk screen prints and I am looking forward to stocking these vintage collectables at Elphick’s, troubles is…. which ones do I choose? I had this trouble choosing Charley Harper’s work and I have a feeling that David Weidman’s prints are going to be just as popular.

Here is one of my favourites ‘Dummy Cat’ for you to enjoy for the moment and I will let you know just as soon as they have arrived.

Rob has been busy with the paints again and has brought in some more beautiful paintings of birds. These two are a couple of my favourites, I love the vibrant blue backgrounds. The words depict the birds chorus apparently, Great Tits like to sing ‘tee-ta tee-ta tee’, whilst the Bullfinch sings ‘pew-pew’. Both measure 10″ x 8″ and are £188 each.
