Switches and Gauges

November 9, 2010

Clifford Richards sent me an image titled ‘Switches and Gauges’ (above) some time ago of a large format poster he designed for a company in Sweden. Whilst walking through Old Street on Monday I noticed the new print Ad Campaign for the Audi A1 (also above), and it reminded me of Clifford’s print. Thought I would share them both with you…..

Clifford Richards tin panel measuring 44cm x 66cm. £45

Here at Elphick’s we are so pleased to announce that we are stocking a small range of products by the Pop Artist Clifford Richards, introduced to me by James Brown funnily enough! His working life as a designer began in the 60’s and his passion and enthusiasm for design still continues today because in his own words ‘I love what I do’. I’m so inspired by his continued dedication.

‘Noah’s Ark’ (pictured), originally designed for Paperchase in 1970 is a printed tin panel, housed in an equally beautiful package designed by Clifford. These have been selling like hot cakes down on Columbia Road and there are now only about 20 left (we are hoping for a possible re-print but there are no guarantees). At £45 each they are appealing to both children and adults alike.

Next up is a more recent product range with The Original Metal Box Company , ‘Rose Cottage’ (pictured) is one of my favourites. These stylish storage cupboards offer a number of solutions for your every day needs, I want one for my growing collection of CD’s. I just love the swallows flying across the facade and the owl on the roof. In store at £145.

Clifford Richards Rose Cupboard 20.5cm x 68cm.

We are also stocking Clifford’s Pet Stand Up Cards, all the designs shown below are £3.50 each.

There’s more to come and more to tell about Clifford’s wonderful work and if you are visiting the V&A Museum of Childhood look out for his exclusive range of products in their fantastic shop.  Apologies for lack of sizes and dimensions but I’m so excited to have him on board that I wanted to share it with the world!
