Valentines

February 6, 2012

Whilst on the subject of windows, here’s the latest addition in celebration of February 14th. I spent a large part of last Friday adorning the windows of 160 Columbia Road in hand-drawn love hearts. Never had so much fun with a window marker. We have a lovely range of LOVE themed prints available in-store or online at www.elphicksshop.com

Better Late than Never

February 6, 2012

It’s been such a long time since I’ve written on my blog so there’s a lot to tell. I’ll start with Christmas which seems strange in February but I wanted to share Elphick’s window. It took quite some time to display these Mark Hearld birds by Art Angels but it was worth every minute. We sold over 800 of these feathered friends and had a lovely response from our visitors to the shop.

Christmas Wednesdays 2011

October 18, 2011

It’s that time of year again and with our first event starting just seven weeks away I thought I would introduce you to this years poster. We’ve been working with our local school Columbia Primary and the winning artwork, featured in in this years poster was designed by Oleanna Pereira, age 7. I love her depiction of our famous street with the message ‘don’t forget to stroke the cat’, a reference to Gilbert the big white, most photographed cat on Columbia Road. Pray for Japan

March 23, 2011

I was asked by Edition Paumes to submit a drawing for an exhibition titled ‘Pray for Japan’. The exhibition details are available by clicking on the link here. All money raised will go to the Japanese Red Cross to help the victims of the earthquake and tsunami. Martha, my ten year old daughter wanted to submit a drawing too, both of us send our love to Japan.

Columbia Road Christmas Wednesdays

November 18, 2010

Yes it’s that time of year again and we are pleased to announce that Columbia Road is hosting ‘Christmas Wednesdays’ to help make your Christmas shopping a hassle free, joyful experience. The street really does look beautiful at this time of the year, the shop keepers make a huge effort with their window displays, and when the light falls we switch on a huge garland of fairy lights which run the length of the street….magical! There’s free entertainment, mulled wine and mince pies in plentiful supply. For more information on Columbia Road please click the following link www.columbiaroad.info

P.S. James Brown designed this years artwork and I have to say it’s the best we’ve had yet, thanks James.
