‘Ping’ Sharon Elphick 2014.
This is the latest collage, based on geometry using pages from a 1958 and a 1968 copy of Paris Match. These works are definitely inspired by my love of the Bauhaus movement, I think they’d make lovely textile designs. I named it ‘Ping’ because someone had written the word in pencil, on one of the pages.

This collage has been created entirely from one page of a vintage magazine. I found this copy of Paris Match, from 1958 at Spitalfields Antique Market.
‘One Green Square’ Sharon Elphick 2014
I will be showing this collage at the East London Design Show, starting this Thursday. It’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to show my own work, for the past seven years my attention had been focused on the retail space on Columbia Road. However, after a couple of months at the new studio I am getting into my creative flow and enjoying the results. I’m loving the simplicity of the geometry and the subtle colours and tones that I find in the vintage magazines.
